Fashion for a Cause: Sseko Sandals

In case you did not already know this, I am a sucker for versatile fashion pieces. Wrap dresses and reversible bikini tops? Yes, please.  These little multi-taskers make getting dressed all the more fun,  not to mention they help downsize closet clutter and make packing a whole lot easier. And with summer backpacking and road trips ahead, who doesn’t want to cut down their baggage?

On a mission to find the perfect summer sandals, while keeping this convertible mantra in mind, I discovered Sseko Designs, a line of sandals created to sport interchangeable straps that can be worn multiple ways. The possibilities are endless. I honestly haven’t seen anything like it yet!

How does it work, you ask? The base of the sandals are hand-made from genuine leather. Each sandal has five anchor points to loop the straps through that allow you to tie your sandals differently everyday.

There’s more.

Like the slogan says on their website, Every sandal has a story.

When you purchase a Sseko design you are not only looking stylish but also helping bright young women of Uganda continue their education. I know that a lot of companies market their products by donating a percentage of profits to charities and organizations in need (which is great), but Sseko works on a more personal and direct level.

Long story, short:

The goal of Sseko Designs is two-fold: provide university tuition for these promising young women through a sustainable monthly income, while also contributing to the overall economic development of Uganda.

If you want to read more about how Sseko directly helps these women, visit Sseko Designs. Definitely worth it.
