Not-so-Guilty Pleasures

We all have that little voice inside our head that won’t stop uttering those sinful temptations. Well, don’t fear because we don’t have to get rid of these guilty pleasures! In fact, it’s time to act on them because they can actually be healthy for us! Here are some not-so-guilty pleasures that will have that little voice SCREAMING for more.

Everything in moderation, of course.

BEER

We all like to kick back and enjoy an ice cold beer every now and then with our friends. Although a lot can be harmful, beer is actually a very rich source of nutrients like vitamin B, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, biotin and selenium. And to top it all off, it can even lower the risk of many diseases like heart disease, stroke and various mental illnesses!

WINE

Wine is good for you in moderation and can actually contribute to a healthy diet! Wine has been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease, improve cardiovascular health, certain cancers and slow the progression of neurological degenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease. Phytochemicals in wine act as antioxidants and prevent cellular damage in the body.

CAFFEINE

Many people plan on giving up coke or coffee one of these days, but surprisingly a small dose of caffeine can do our bodies good! Caffeine actually relaxes muscles and acts as a mild sedative thus helping you deal with your migraines, menstrual cramps or even asthma problems.

NOT CLEANING

People who are obsessed with cleanliness will prevent their bodies from building up immunity to common parasites and microorganisms which may, and very often does cause them to become sickly and prone to various allergies and even respiratory issues!

CHOCOLATE

Chocolate, especially dark chocolate, is proved to be good for you if taken in small, regular doses. It lowers the levels of bad cholesterol, stimulates the brain, helps our blood pump faster and healthier which lowers the risk of heart attacks. Also–it does a great job in making us happy!

ICE CREAM

This is a very popular, unbelievably tempting guilty pleasure that thankfully is the healthiest sweet you can choose! Ice cream has many benefits, such as making you feel fuller longer, has less calories than a cheese cake, and actually contains protein and calcium that your body can use! Try getting sherbert or frozen yogurt for even less of the calories!

Add granola and fruit instead of candy and sprinkles for a delicious healthy treat!
