Shades of Spring: Mint

One color trend I cannot get enough of this Spring is mint. It’s cool, calm, and the breath of fresh air needed to dive into Spring. Make sure to not overdo this color by focusing on just one piece for an ultimate statement. Pair with white for an effortlessly chic look or accessorize an all-black ensemble with a mint green clutch or belt for that extra wow-factor.

Sleep: Why We Need It!

We’ve all heard the common line, “It’s ok, I can sleep when I die!”, but interestingly enough, sleep does a number of things for our body besides preventing us from going to that 8 a.m. class. Here are some reasons not to ditch out on everybody’s favorite hobby. SLEEP!

Improves learning and memory. Sleep helps the brain commit new information to memory. Studies have shown that people who have slept after learning a task did better on tests later. So try not to pull those pre-test all nighters!

Regulates metabolism and weight. Lack of sleep may cause weight gain by affecting the way our bodies process and store carbs, and by altering levels of hormones that affect our appetite.

Increases your mood. Sleep loss can lead to irritability, impatience, inability to concentrate, and moodiness. Too little sleep can also leave you too tired to do the activities that you usually love doing throughout the day.

Beauty sleep!  Sleep gives us that glowing complexion. Lack of sleep can cause dark circles, fine lines and, in more extreme cases, rashes and eczema. During hours of sleep, cortisol and insulin production peak so that collagen 1 production is accelerated, which gives our skin that elastic glow. Also, when skin benefits from enough sleep, products and treatments work more effectively to provide better results.

Green tea is known for its wide range of health benefits including anti-aging effects. Amazingly, green tea has thermogenic abilities that aids in warming up the body. The process of increasing body temperature requires burning of additional calories leading to an active metabolism. Green tea also contains caffeine, which activates the body and the energy needed to sustain the activity comes from burning more calories.

Water with lemon will give you a natural but healthy ways to boost your metabolism. Lemon has the making similar to saliva, hydrochloric acid, bile and other digestive tract enzymes. Because of this, it helps greatly in digestive functions.

Sassy water is a drink made with other natural metabolism-boosting ingredients to give you a delicious treat that’ll flatten your belly! Check out the recipe–
