Trending: Pastel Perfection

Spring is approaching fast and I am getting more and more excited to sport some pretty pastel hues. You can thank designers such as Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, Lavin, and Miu Miu for having beautiful lavender, mint green, candy pink, and saturated coral on the runways. How can you not love a feminine color palette and all of the styling possibilities that come with it? For your benefit I pulled the best candy-colored hues that will help your wardrobe flow effortlessly into Spring.

Shades of Spring: Mint

One color trend I cannot get enough of this Spring is mint. It’s cool, calm, and the breath of fresh air needed to dive into Spring. Make sure to not overdo this color by focusing on just one piece for an ultimate statement. Pair with white for an effortlessly chic look or accessorize an all-black ensemble with a mint green clutch or belt for that extra wow-factor.

Citrus Take Over!

I hope you’re a fan of citrus, this spring the fresh palette is taking over! Colors varying from orange, lemon, lime, and tangerine flooded the Spring 2012 runways offering a splash of sophistication while being subtly seductive. Citrus was on the scene as solids, in prints, combined with one another, combined with black and white, or paired with any number of bright hues.

Don’t believe me? Pantone announced the 2012 color of the year: Tangerine Tango, an orange with “a lot of depth to it” according to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.

MM6 Maison Martin Margiela

Continuous reviews of MM6 Maison Martin Margiela Fall/Winter 2011/2012 collection have me praying for a snow day…in August. Chunky knits, ivory, black, and orange hues, layers upon layers of leathery goodness that scream interchangeability to the MAX. Vogue names this duo, creators of “the most contemporary mix-and-match” and I simply couldn’t agree more. Whoever thought of transforming a cozy chunky cardigan into a sleek form fitting sweater dress must be genius. And if quilted sleeve cutoffs from a leather jacket (I already adored on its own) doesn’t boost the versatility factor, I don’t know what does. Traveling to Europe for fashion week just got a whole lot easier. Now what to do with all that extra space in your rolling luggage…

Go ahead, do a double take:
